Today was a balmy 34 degrees with Chicago humidity. The day started with the team coming out early to Kerrywood Cubs Stadium to check out the competition.

The game started with our team being relegated to the shadeless unroofed home dug out. Despite the heat the boys did awesome.

In Game 1,
Team BC squared off against the Diamond Dawgz at Kerry Wood Stadium just a short drive away from Wrigley Field in the Roscoe Village Neighborhood on the north side of Chicago. Jude Hall took the mound for Team BC. BC struck first as Connor McIntosh lead off the bottom of the 2nd with a walk and promptly stole 2nd and 3rd and scored on a wild pitch. The Dawgz answered back with 2 runs of their own in the top of the 3rd to take a 2-1 lead. Dawgz starter, Palmer shut team BC down the next three innings with BC starter, Hall, matching Palmer as the game stayed at 2-1 heading into the bottom half of the sixth, with the top of BC’s order coming up. Johnny McGill hit a double to left to kick things off. After advancing to 3rd on a passed ball, McGill scored on a Sugi infield single to tie the game at 2. Sugi advanced to 2nd on a wild pitch and Domanski laid down a perfect bunt down the 3rd base line to put runners at 1st and 3rd with nobody out and clean-up hitter Baybay coming up. Baybay would single to right center to give Team BC a 3-2 lead. Heppner hit an infield single to load the bases and Team BC would extend the lead to 4-2 on a McIntosh RBI groundout. Hall would retire the Dawgz in order in the top of the 7th to secure the 4-2 victory.

Game MVP – Jude Hall (7IP, 4H, 2R, 1ER, 3K, 0BB, 74 pitches)

Next Game – Friday at 3:45 CST vs Fastball USA Academy @ Northwestern University Stadium

After the game the team went out for some famous Deep Dish pizza at Chicago’s own Lou Malnati’s. To work some of the cheese out of system we headed off to Pinstripes bowling and the boys bowled up a storm showing everybody that curve balls are not meant for baseball.
