FORMER MLB MANAGER AND COACH JIM LEFEBVRE TO HEAD UP BC BASEBALL 16U DEVELOPMENT CAMP

Jim Lefebvre , former MLB Manager and Coach as well as MLB Player will be heading up the BC Baseball 2017 16U Development camp. Lefebvre is a former second baseman, third baseman and manager in Major League Baseball. Lefebvre, the 1965 National League Rookie of the Year, was signed by the Los Angeles Dodgers as an amateur free agent in 1962. In 1965, his rookie year, he hit .250 with 12 home runs and 69 RBI. Lefebvre was named to the All-Star Game in 1966. He also played four seasons in Japan, from 1973 until 1976, for the Lotte Orions. He was a big league manager from 1989–1993, and then again in 1999. Lefebvre was formerly the hitting coach for the San Diego Padres.

In addition to managing, Lefebvre has spent time coaching in the Dodgers, Milwaukee Brewers, San Francisco Giants, Cincinnati Reds, and San Diego Padres organizations. He also coached the China National Baseball Team (Olympics) in 2005, the 2006 World Baseball Classic, and 2008 Olympics.

BC Baseball has held Open Tryouts for the 16U camp and eventual team.

With 50+ players trying out, BC Baseball director Grant Rimer expects 25-35 players to be invited to the Development Camp, which will be held June 9,10, & 11 in Aldergrove BC
The camp and scrimmages will be used to identify 14-15 players who will be invited to compete in the Summer Slam 2017 Wood Bat Classic Tournament, being held in Tacoma Washington July 6-9 2017.

For those players that aren’t selected, they will still gain immense benefit from attending the camp.
