BC Baseball 15U Selects Camp Wrapped Up today
The 2017 BC Baseball 15U Selects camp wrapped up today. The 40 plus players who attended the camp, and were trying out for the Selects team were treated to some great coaching and skill development over the 3 days at the Latrace and Blundell facility in Richmond. The weather cooperated all weekend which was a pleasant surprise given the Spring so far.
The last day of the camp on Sunday started off early with a video session hosted by Reggie Smith…the theme of this and the hour long talk “Time & Space”. Such a direct approach to batting and our participants came away from this with a much better understanding of plate coverage and preparation from the ex-MLBer. Sunday video instruction was then followed by more skills development with the day ended with another two scrimmage games in the early afternoon.
It was nice to see Baseball Canada’s Past President Ray Carter, BC Baseball’s President Mike Sarai, Toronto Blue Jays Scout Don Cowan and many other baseball guests drop by the parks to observe the weekend camp.
BC Baseball would also like to thank the parents who brought the players to this camp from all over the Province and spent their weekend supporting their kids and watching over the 3 days.
The Coaching was excellent, and BC Baseball received lots of positive feedback like below:
_*Thanks for hosting an excellent camp. Reggie is a fantastic teacher/coach! His love for the game and little “nuggets” were appreciated."
“All coaches were top notch”*_
BC Baseball would also like to thank Instructors Reggie Smith, Aaron Myette, Al Forman, Orville Germaine, Ford Marcotte, BC Selects Head Coach Cam Frick and Asst. Luke Yam for their time put forth this past weekend.
The Coaches/Instructors will now select and notify the players who will make the team and represent BC Baseball at the 15U Great Lakes Wood Bat Classic in Evanston Illinois July 6-9th.
Just a short note to congratulate BC Baseball for the fantastic three-day tryout in Richmond on June 2nd to 4th. My grandson (Diego Colebourne) was chosen to participate. Diego was so impressed by the coaches, drills and be with boys who normally are opponents, but now were team mates and fellow students of the great game of baseball. I had the privilege to watch the Sunday workout. To see Reggie Smith in person was too, a thrill for me, as he played in my era of baseball.
